Price Hike

Price hike means the fast and excessive rise of price of daily essentials. Recently the price of daily essentials such as rice, flour, potato, green pepper, edible oil, baby food, fuel and many other daily commodities has gone beyond the purchase ability of limited income group. Frequent natural disasters, low yield of agricultural products compared to the fast growing people, inordinate avarice of dishonest businessmen, less government subsidy to agricultural sectors, lack of hybrid seeds and modern agro technology, rising prices in the international markets, too much dependence on import, government’s failure to strengthen the local resources etc. are some of the major reasons for the recent price hike. Due to it, living cost rises and people of all walks of lives adversely suffer. The poor often starve and cannot buy medicine or clothes. The middle class people’s budget fails to cope with the price of daily essentials. It also causes inflation and unrest. After all, it more or less affects all the people of a country. The government and the people need to have an integrated, honest, strong and whole-hearted approach to addressing this problem.
